Keep doing hard things!

As I get older and somewhat wiser (🤔), I have learnt that consciously choosing to put your mind and body in challenging situations is the best thing to do to ready yourself for the challenges you don’t choose in life.

I completed the 100km bike ride from Brisbane to the Gold Coast on the weekend. I chose to do it 5 weeks ago which forced me to train for it.

It meant I had to spend long hours in the cold and dark before the sun rises to get ready for it. It meant I had to change parts of my life to get ready for it.

Did I enjoy the preparation, hell no!! It sucked!

My goal was to do it in under 4 hours. I got it done in 3h38m

Was it hard?

My average heart rate for 3h38m was 152bpm. Those that understand heart rates, will understand that as going very hard for a long time.

It wasn’t the physical pain that challenged me, it was overcoming the extraordinary mental internal chatter to quit.

Am I glad I chose to do it?

ABSOLUTELY! I’ll be doing it in a few months but this time, completely solo.

If you want to build resilience and personal grit, consciously choose to do hard things. You will probably hate it, but you will love yourself for it. 💪🤘

PS – apologies for the Lryca shots, no one should be witness to me in that attire. 😂😂😂

Thanks for the Inspo once again Jason Clark 🙏
